Lautan Luas and Pertamina Lubricants Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Explore Collaboration in Specialty Chemicals and Lubricants

Jakarta, August 27, 2025 — PT Lautan Luas Tbk (LTLS), an integrated ingredients and solution provider with 74 years of experience across three business sectors—manufacturing, distribution, and support & services—has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Pertamina Lubricants (PTPL), a Pertamina subsidiary engaged in lubricants and specialty chemicals with a global production and distribution network.

The signing of this MoU is the first step for both companies to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration in the development and supply of specialty chemicals and lubricants. The scope of exploration includes meeting industrial lubricant needs, including food grade lubricants for hydraulic and gear applications, as well as metal working fluids that have the potential to be re-marketed by Lautan Luas, and opportunities for joint development of high value added (HVA) products such as LBO raw materials for white oil and anti-foam additives.

Managing Director of PT Lautan Luas Tbk, Joshua C. Asali, said, “This collaboration will open up great opportunities for synergy between Lautan Luas and Pertamina Lubricants. More than just a business exploration, we see this collaboration as contributing to the independence of the national industry through import substitution, supply chain efficiency, and the development of high value-added specialty chemicals produced from domestic research.”

Commercial Director of PT Lautan Luas Tbk, Soewandhi Soekamto, added, “We believe that by exploring the potential for collaboration, both companies can achieve efficiency, expand their market share, and support the growth of the domestic industry.”

PT Pertamina Lubricants President Director Werry Prayogi said that this collaboration is in line with the company’s strategy to expand its product portfolio and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the domestic and global supply chain.

“The partnership with Lautan Luas is in line with Pertamina Lubricants’ commitment to continue innovating and developing products that are relevant to the needs of the industry. By leveraging PTPL’s global distribution network and Lautan Luas’ expertise in chemicals, we are optimistic that this collaboration will provide added value for both parties, support domestic product development, and ultimately reduce import dependency,” said Werry.

The signing of this MoU will also serve as the basis for discussions on more specific cooperation agreements in the future, including plans for operational cooperation between LTLS and PTPL subsidiaries, covering opportunities for joint distribution in international markets.
